2024 was a year of significant growth and impact for our Sustainability Swarm. We started as a small, passionate group of individuals from across the organization, driven by a shared commitment to sustainability. Our vision was clear: to position Palo IT as a leader in sustainable digital solutions and to accelerate our company's transition to a sustainable organization. The year wasn't without its challenges. We navigated organizational hurdles and learned to work effectively as a team. One of our most valuable experiences was engaging a team coach. Through coaching, we gained a deeper understanding of our individual strengths and areas for collective focus. We also became more aware of the types of conversations we weren't having, often because of assumptions or unintentional avoidance. These conversations, when we finally had them, revealed differing expectations and understanding of the Swarm's purpose and stakeholders. This clarity was invaluable, bonding us as a team and enabling us to work more effectively together.Throughout the year, we participated in and hosted numerous events and initiatives that advanced our sustainability goals. 23 in total! Some highlights for me include:Giant Climate Fresk: Our Palo Climate Fresk facilitators, had the opportunity to practice their skills and be part of the largest Climate Fresk in Singapore, engaging 250+ participants from 11 schools. It was engaging and enlightening interacting with the participants and being part of their learning and understanding of the climate crisis we are in.Senoko Waste-to-Energy Plant Visit (July): The Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Incinerator visit was illuminating, underscoring the importance of understanding the broader system in place when discussing sustainability. Singapore incinerates 92% of its waste- the tour highlighted that there is still much more that can be done to enhance sustainability efforts.PALO IT Lab Fest: Where we brought together innovators and industry leaders to explore transformative solutions in AI, software, and sustainability.  We had workshops and panel discussions, both offered a wealth of insight. We were thrilled to showcase some of our prototypes designed to tackle pressing global challenges.  We had the opportunity to showcase our very own ESG Impact Tracker, our data centric, AI powered ESG data management solution. We demonstrated that the tool aims to alleviate the pain of collecting, transforming nd storing large data sets, so that organizations can focus on what really matters: take action and improve their ESG performance. Our Impact in 2024Launching our very own Palo IT Impact Tracker: Following its showcase at the Singapore FinTech Festival, interest in visualizing carbon footprints continues to grow. The Impact Tracker has also been recognized as a sustainability reporting tool on NetZeroHub.SG.Green Design Collective Workshops: We launched three workshops to integrate sustainability into design practices, from discovery to delivery and communication. The workshop allows participants to gain hands-on experience in applying systems thinking, optimizing digital performance, and ensuring ethical and authentic sustainability messaging. The workshop equips participants with the knowledge and tools to make products lighter, faster, and more responsible. By integrating sustainability principles into our workflows, we help businesses reduce their digital carbon footprint while enhancing user experience and efficiency.Introducing the Design Sustainability Squad! Led by 4 amazing and passionate colleagues, this team is driving sustainability in design and empowering designers to create a more sustainable world.Rolling Out the Digital Collage: Following the success of Climate Fresk, we introduced to our L&D offering for Palowans, the Digital Collage, an interactive workshop on the environmental and social impact of our digital lives.Growing Our Network of Facilitators: We now have a team of 10 facilitators - 9 for Climate Fresk and 3 for Digital Collage.Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to continue building on our successes and further contribute to a more sustainable future. We will leverage the lessons learned from 2024 to strengthen our team, expand our impact, and continue to drive positive change within Palo IT and beyond.
